Down syndrome is a disease known for some time in its morphological, neuropsychiatric and organic. This collection of essays, based on careful analysis of the literature filtered from the direct experience of each author, wants to be a clarification for the General Practitioner and Specialist. We have tried to provide a flexible, yet comprehensive and scientifically updated, to be able to address the various diseases that are not "special" because they affect a person Down, but must be placed in a particular frame as present in a patient with organic characteristics and clinics "special". This text is not intended as a tool to induce an excessive medicalization of Down syndrome, which should not be considered "patients" but individuals subject to clinical risks polymorphs, risks that we have to identify and control, exercising a preventive medicine at all levels. The work, which involved a large number of experts involved daily in various specialized fields to improve the living conditions of these women and men want to be of help in the understanding and management of the manifestations of this complex clinical picture caused by a small amount of excess DNA on chromosome 21.
