We read with great interest the systematic review and meta-analysis of Hughes and colleagues1 and we would like to make a comment about some specific cohorts of patients that were not considered in their work: the cohort of patients infected by injection or infusion of contaminated blood, such as patients with haemophilia or other blood and coagulation disorders. Among these cohorts, different patients may present long-term neuropsychological disorders and neurological modifications, such as the presence of atrophic alterations and lesions in the white matter.
