The Author analyzes the first theoretical treatise written in Ukraine following Western patterns of doctrinal polemic literature. The book shows that Galjatovs'kyj had a very good knowledge of Jewish culture and that it was important for the Orthodox states of the time to try to convert Jews in order to insert them in the society of their time. Though sharing many of the antijewish prejudices of his time, Galjatovs'kyj demonstrates in many cases a deep participation to the destine of the Jews and is inclined to foster conversion by preaching, rather than by violent persecution.

Abstract
The Author analyzes the first theoretical treatise written in Ukraine following Western patterns of doctrinal polemic literature. The book shows that Galjatovs'kyj had a very good knowledge of Jewish culture and that it was important for the Orthodox states of the time to try to convert Jews in order to insert them in the society of their time. Though sharing many of the antijewish prejudices of his time, Galjatovs'kyj demonstrates in many cases a deep participation to the destine of the Jews and is inclined to foster conversion by preaching, rather than by violent persecution.Pubblicazioni consigliate
