Chronobiology in human childhood started in the early fifties and is closely connected with the name of Theo Hellbrügge. The topics of chronobiology covered a broad range. They included the circadian rhythm in many biological functions such as body temperature, blood pressure, frequency of the heart as well as of the respiration; furthermore and peak expiratory flow and the response of patients treated by corticosteroids and other drugs. This contribution notes the significance of this field for human development and underlines the main tasks for further scientific researches.
