George Tabori’s Transcultural Theatre: “The Cannibals” – “Die Kannibalen” – “I cannibali”. Starting from the transcultural foundation of George Tabori’s theatre aesthetics, the contribution aims at interpreting his “black mass” The Cannibals (1968/69) and some American, German and Italian stagings of the play as transcultural variations of Tabori’s key issue: remembering and representing the Holocaust through active memory work on the emotions of actors and audience.
