Immagini-di: grandezza e decadenza nei rapporti fra pittura e realtà

The notion of "image" always implies that the image is an "image-of" something which is not in itself an image. The paper aims at reconstructing the main moments of the history of this notion. At the same time, it explores the temptation to produce a perfectly resemblant image, in which the identification between the representing element and the represented element cancels the "of" of the image and annuls the experience of the image itself.
