Abstract

Fixing the propeller. There is general consensus that phosphine oxides and phosphines carrying three identical aryl groups are operationally achiral compounds. We show that suitably tailored triarylphosphine oxides give rise to configurationally stable residual enantiomers, which we isolated in an enantiopure state.
