This research project examines the questions of how trans women’s lives are influenced by law –in the books and in practice- and how they make sense of and situate themselves in relation with law in contemporary Turkey. For these aims, it analyses legal texts and life story narratives of five trans women in Istanbul, through the perspective of legal governmentality.
