At the Termae Oasis (Lido delle Nazioni-Ferrara-Italy) 2 groups of patients with chronic rheumatic back pain (QTF Classes 1 and 2) were investigated. The first group (N= 25) was submitted daily for 12 consecutive days to thermal water and mud therapy, while the second was treated with daily radar therapy for 12 consecutive days. Treatments efficacy was evaluated assessing pain, at rest and during exercise, through the Analog-Visual Scale (AVS) and the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Significant improvements were obtained after both treatments (P<0,05). Still, both SAV and NRS demonstrated a higher therapeutic effect in the group treated with crenotherapy (P<0,05).
