Abstract
The Regula Virginum composed by Cesarius Arleatensis for the first female monastery, together with those of Aurelianus and Donatus and with the Institutio Sanctimonialium provided in 816 represent interesting sources to inquire the conception of edifices and spaces' organisation in female foundations. The aim of the paper is to analyse some relevant – and regia – examples of important monasteries of nuns in Lombardy (S. Radegonda in Milan, S. Margherita in Como and S. Grata in Bergamo) in the light of these information, and with help from better known cases in Germany and France to point out their 'restitution' and the role in their cities liturgical topography, an aspect not yet clarified.Pubblicazioni consigliate
