Nowadays, the newsletter, originally a printed document which contains information, advice, opinions, forecasts, and news of interest to a specific group has migrated to the Web. The popularity of e-mail newsletters or e-zines (sometimes lexicalized in ezines is underlined by the wealth of instructional materials (tutorials, learning workshops, models, guidelines, tips, etc.) designed to assist newsletter writers and available on the Web. After identifying the salient features of on-line newsletters that testify the evolution of newsletters I examine a representative sample of texts in light of the guidelines available on the Net, with a view to identifying the reasons for a possible transition from print to electronic newsletters.
