We describe here a modular perfusion apparatus which allows the simultaneous measurement of several different flows across a variety of biological membranes. The apparatus, derived from the basic prototype by Ussing and Zerahn, is built by cutting and milling a few polymethylmethacrylate bars and plates and the building blocks so obtained are then packed together by means of two tie rods. This arrangement allows the easy dismantling of the apparatus and the interchange of the building blocks, which can be individually adapted to particular needs without rebuilding the whole apparatus.

Abstract
We describe here a modular perfusion apparatus which allows the simultaneous measurement of several different flows across a variety of biological membranes. The apparatus, derived from the basic prototype by Ussing and Zerahn, is built by cutting and milling a few polymethylmethacrylate bars and plates and the building blocks so obtained are then packed together by means of two tie rods. This arrangement allows the easy dismantling of the apparatus and the interchange of the building blocks, which can be individually adapted to particular needs without rebuilding the whole apparatus.Pubblicazioni consigliate
