At the end of the privatization process - implemented since the 90s -, the economic participation of the Italian public powers is, today, almost exclusively explicated through common law companies, operating in the market such as private parties. However, the rules that govern these companies entail a lot of exceptions to the provisions normally applied for the same private entities, and this situation implies that the juridical nature of such companies is actually extremely complex.
