I processi di trasformazione politico-costituzionale ai confini dell’Unione europea : riflessioni sull’espansione del modello democratico e sui suoi limiti

The article presents a comparative analysis of the political and constitutional transitions in the areas of North Africa and the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. The European Union has many different kinds of relationships with the countries of these areas and apply the politics of ‘democratic conditionality’ in a different way. The author gives a comparison between new transitions and those that have occurred 25 year ago in Central and Eastern Europe, envisaging similarities and differences with a focus on constitutional models
