The presentation aims to trace the ideological background of the Italian Yishuv in Eretz Israel up until 1948 focusing on the different, although complementary, national elaborations of Enzo Sereni and Alfonso Pacifici, seminal figures of Italian chalutzistic Zionism. The lecture seeks to present an alternative of the scholarship’s paradigm of “Diaspora nationalism”, enlightening a “practical” form of nationalism and concentrating both upon its original theoretical contents and the epistemological meaning of the challenge of turning into praxis through the phenomenon of settlement in Palestine.
