La construction du débat identitaire actuel en France : représentations et enjeux discursifs

This paper intends to explore the discursive implications of the national identity debate, developed in France during the whole of Nicolas Sarkozy’s presidency. A corpus of articles taken from the daily Libération and the forums derived from them have been examined carefully through the instruments for discourse analysis. This study has become the starting point for a reflection on the complexity of voices which contribute to elaborate the identity debate deriving from the cross of two identity representations: the one is fixed and stuck to past values, the other is open to the social context evolution.
