The article explores how subjects, motives and techniques of traditional Japanese painting, especially of the most decorative schools and trends, have been absorbed and transformed by several Postwar graphic designers to appeal to the contemporary society's public through the graphic poster format. This recent research aims to show the strong relation which arts and design have always had in Japanese culture.
