The relation between art and social evolution, referring to Japanese experience of the tragic events of March 11th 2011 is the main subject of the article, which shows how many artists, designers, architects and filmmakers shifted to a collective and social form of creativity after the Great Earthquake. A general demand of "making art" seems to respond to a new awareness, with projects that aim to recover local identity through memory and sharing the act of making.

Abstract
