ABSTRACT: The present study is the result of a research on the continuing influence of Italy on Albania, in all sectors and particularly in the legislative one. The main aim of this work is given by the attempt to present a brief overview of the development of the Albanian legislation, starting with the creation of an independent State in 1912 until the end of the Second World War, focusing on the process of codifying the criminal law and subsequent legislative measures. In this codification process the milestone is represented by the promulgation of the first Albanian Criminal Code in 1928 which remained in force even during fascism and was built on the model of the Italian Zanardelli Code.
