Social Sciences and Education in China: a Political Discourse in Progress. Social Sciences were reestablished in China as fields of academic research and teaching at the end of the 1970's. Since then the political discourse on the role and functions of social sciences was constantly linked to two strategic projects: people's education and the country modernization. Therefore official data on the development of these fields of study show a steady growth with a relevant acceleration at the beginning of the XXI century. In the same period Chinese leaders start to emphasize the need for a growing international relevance of the Chinese academic discourse right/power in the Social Sciences in order to educate the global scientific community and public to a different perspective on the country situation.
