Représentations de l'espace francophone dans la BDLP : enjeux linguistiques et interculturels

REPRESENTATIONS OF THE FRANCOPHONE AREA IN THE “BDLP”: LINGUISTIC AND INTERCULTURAL STAKES The aim of this paper is to think over the francophone area representations worked out from the Base de données linguistiques panfrancophone, starting with the hypothesis that language expresses culture and helps to elaborate cultural and non-stereotyped identity representations. After presenting the most important features of the BDLP, this study emphasizes, at first, the geo-linguistic and geo-ethnical outline the user can find out there and then examines closely the database consecrated to Morocco. The analysis of the characteristic strategies in the lexicon of the French language spoken in Morocco accounts for the linguistic and cultural hybridization phenomena; it also gives to users the chance to understand the dynamics involved in the francophone area and to call into question the concept of homogenous language norm in favour of a more complex and articulate conception.
