A method based on the use of a minimal order adaptive notch filter able to monitor changes in the respiratory frequency is proposed. The notch frequency of the filter is updated via a recursive least squared algorithm. The respiratory frequency is tracked during spontaneous and controlled breathing in healthy young subjects. Results demonstrate that, even when paced, respiratory frequency is variable and its variability depends on the breathing rate.

Abstract
A method based on the use of a minimal order adaptive notch filter able to monitor changes in the respiratory frequency is proposed. The notch frequency of the filter is updated via a recursive least squared algorithm. The respiratory frequency is tracked during spontaneous and controlled breathing in healthy young subjects. Results demonstrate that, even when paced, respiratory frequency is variable and its variability depends on the breathing rate.Pubblicazioni consigliate
