The paper considers the possibility of justifying on the basis of a critical theory of morality norms establishing a universal, general and absolute duty not to lie and an universal, general and absolute duty to inform, and the correlative universal, general and absolute rights to truth. The conclusion it reaches is that those norms cannot be justified. Yet, such a conclusion doesn't imply that people should be granted an unlimited liberty to lie, nor it excludes the possibility that in particular circumstances people have a duty to provide other people information relevant for their individual well-being.

Abstract
The paper considers the possibility of justifying on the basis of a critical theory of morality norms establishing a universal, general and absolute duty not to lie and an universal, general and absolute duty to inform, and the correlative universal, general and absolute rights to truth. The conclusion it reaches is that those norms cannot be justified. Yet, such a conclusion doesn't imply that people should be granted an unlimited liberty to lie, nor it excludes the possibility that in particular circumstances people have a duty to provide other people information relevant for their individual well-being.Pubblicazioni consigliate
