Fontane a scalette multiple in muratura decorate a mosaico

A recently started study about the ornamental use of water, included within a wider field of research, has focused on both small size and stone made waterfall fountains. Among the last ones, two examples have particularly captured the attention because of their mosaic decorations: the first one is the fountain in the courtyard of Diana’s building in Ostia (I, III, 3); the second is the one of an unknown destination building in Chersonissos, placed on the north coast of Crete Island. In this very preliminary study, we would like to share some first impressions and considerations about these two work art, which are a unicum due to the peculiarities of their shape and decoration.
