Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the world. In 2000 it caused more than 4.35 million deaths in Europe; Italy is no exception, with 42% overall CVD mortality. More than 50% of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) have not been classified as at high risk. It is therefore important to correctly identify patients that need to be correctly stratified and to understand the better way to do it. Different risk score systems are available. The objective of this study is to analize how a scoring system is developed, validated and evaluated for impact into clinical practice and to compare different scoring systems.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the world. In 2000 it caused more than 4.35 million deaths in Europe; Italy is no exception, with 42% overall CVD mortality. More than 50% of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) have not been classified as at high risk. It is therefore important to correctly identify patients that need to be correctly stratified and to understand the better way to do it. Different risk score systems are available. The objective of this study is to analize how a scoring system is developed, validated and evaluated for impact into clinical practice and to compare different scoring systems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
