The first surgical protocol for dental implants by Brånemark stated that implants should remain submerged during healing period. Later on several Authors analyzed new protocol where implants were positioned through mucosal tissues and observed no differences between two protocols. In this paper the Authors analyze some clinical situations that need two different surgical steps and describe the techniques.
