The Vie de saint Jean-Baptiste published here was probably composed in the second half of the 15th century; set up in quatrains of octosyllabes, its content includes the main episodes of the Saint's life: birth, life in the desert, arrest and martyrdom; curiously, the baptism of Jesus is lacking. In spite of its very mediocre literary quality, this poem became a success of library: from Lyon to Rouen to Paris (by Trepperel), it had at least eleven editions, among them some incunabula.
