The lecture focuses on the results of the ALBIOS study. The questions investigated by the study are: “which is the best therapy to grant adequate volume replacement according to predefined hemodynamic goals, improve, or eventually increase, septic patients outcome?” And again “Has the hemodynamic equilibrium to be maintained by infusing albumin or colloids?” Goals of the study: To verify the effects of volume replacement by albumin infusion and maintenance of albumin plasmatic concentration within a physiological range (≥ 30 g/l) on 28-day, 90-day survival and on the number and severity of multi-organ failures in septic and septic shock patients admitted to ICU compared to crystalloid infusion
