Abstract

In the Egyptological Archives of the University of Milan, a set of very rare glass-negatives has been recently identified as documenting stages of the transportation of the Royal Mummies from the Tomb of Amenhotep II (KV35) in the Valley of the Kings, following the decision for their removal made by Gaston Maspero in 1900. It is quite likely that the discoverer of the “Karnak Cachette,” Georges Legrain, took these photographs or — at least — the original glass-negatives once belonged to the Legrain Archives.
