Abstract

One manuscript and at least eleven printed editions, which appeared between 1490 and around 1525, have preserved a Vie de saint Jean-Baptiste in octosyllabic quatrains, probably composed in the second half of the 15th century. This article describes the incunabula and the 16-th century editions, all single cpies, with particular emphasis on two printed items from the Bibliothèque de l'école nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris: among them a Lyon edition, without either name or date, is remarkable for its outstanding illustrations (seven woodcuts), studied in their relation to the Vie in verse
