The crystal structure of quantum paraelectric EuTiO3 has been reported to remain cubic down to low temperature. Using synchrotron radiation powder diffraction in the 60 ≤ T ≤ 300 K we found a new cubic Pm-3m to tetragonal I4/mcm structural phase transition. Pair distribution function (PDF) analysis of data collected at T = 100 K, 150 K, 240 K revealed important details about the nature of the transition. In particular at T = 240 K the short range structure is not consistent with the mean crystallographic cubic model and is better described by the low temperature tetragonal model.
