The enzymatic reaction of silk fibre with horseradish peroxidase and H2O2 has been investigated. The aim was the generation of phenoxy radicals able to polymerise forming molecules as lignins. The EPR spectrum observed with silk fibre after six minutes of treatment with HRP and H2O2 was composed of two main patterns. One of them was attributed to the intermediate complex CII rapidly transforming back to CI. Larger values of g(perp.) were indicating weaker bonds between [Fe(IV)=O]2+ and a porphyrin pi-cation radical.

Abstract
The enzymatic reaction of silk fibre with horseradish peroxidase and H2O2 has been investigated. The aim was the generation of phenoxy radicals able to polymerise forming molecules as lignins. The EPR spectrum observed with silk fibre after six minutes of treatment with HRP and H2O2 was composed of two main patterns. One of them was attributed to the intermediate complex CII rapidly transforming back to CI. Larger values of g(perp.) were indicating weaker bonds between [Fe(IV)=O]2+ and a porphyrin pi-cation radical.Pubblicazioni consigliate
