The PhD dissertation deals with the history of the Waldenses of the later Middle Ages in that peculiar moment between Middle Ages and Reform. Using mostly manuscript sources held by the Cambridge University Library, the Bibliothèque Nationale of Paris, Trinity College of Dublin and the Archives Départementales de l’Isère of Grenoble, it covers many different aspects of the religious experience such as the partecipation of women, the role of the itinerant preachers, without neglecting the history of the Waldensian manuscripts that represents a totally new chapter in the history of the Waldenses. Concentrating mostly on the inquisitorial trials have thoroughly been investigated also the connections with the erudite milieu in the Europe of the XVIIth century.
