Bronchioloalveolar carcinoma (BAC) is a subtype of adenocarcinoma of the lung that accounts for 3% of the total pulmonary malignancies. On the basis of literature on the topic, the following were taken into consideration, the history, the incidence, the epidemiology, the aetiopathogenesis, the clinical characteristics, the diagnostic as well as the surgical therapy of this kind of cancer. The autors reviewed our surgical experience of 23 patients treated at the Department of General, Thoracic & Vascular Surgery of the University of Parma during a 10-years period from 1985 to 1995.

Abstract
