The design of self testing control unit of microprogram type is described. The binary word is put into correspondence to each micro instruction or to a set of microinstructions. The presented methodology allows evaluating the fault coverage/latency/hardware overhead of the system when the reliability parameters check key values and the method of fault detection are a given a priori.
