Abstract

In this study the use of ultrasound and microwave for the production of biodiesel is investigated both in the heterogeneously catalyzed esterification of free fatty acids and the homogeneously catalysed transesterification of tryglicerides. The use of ultrsound appears to enhance the reactivity of the homogeneous reaction, whereas it does not bring advantages to the ion exchange resins catalyzed esterification with respect the traditional method
