High quality milk is important for production of high quality pasteurized milk and dairy products. The production of milk with low bacterial counts starts at the farm and is influenced by many procedures related with management practices. Bulk tank milk somatic cell and bacterial counts are used in order to establish guidelines for the farmer and understand the status of the herd. Veterinarians could use bulk tank milk data to identify good points and potential problem areas.
