Having observed two cases of traumatic rupture of the diaphragm the authors discuss some of the main aspects. In particular the choice of surgical indications and repair techniques are analysed, and the importance of an early intervention and use of myoplasty with the latissimus dorsi is stressed in cases of extensive or complex rupture of the diaphragm.
