The synthesis of polycarboxylated derivatives of β-cyclodextrin obtained by reacting maleic anhydride and suitable thiolic compounds is described. The derivatives were characterised by potentiometric analyses and 13C-NMR spectra. The products obtained show a great solubility in water, but also in ethanol and methanol and act as complexing agents for many bivalent metallic cations. These derivatives are probably biodegradable and non toxic.

Abstract
The synthesis of polycarboxylated derivatives of β-cyclodextrin obtained by reacting maleic anhydride and suitable thiolic compounds is described. The derivatives were characterised by potentiometric analyses and 13C-NMR spectra. The products obtained show a great solubility in water, but also in ethanol and methanol and act as complexing agents for many bivalent metallic cations. These derivatives are probably biodegradable and non toxic.Pubblicazioni consigliate
