Trattamento delle cisti dei mascellari : Attuali orientamenti

After reviewing the most recent literature about etiology, diagnosis and treatment of cysts of the jaws, the Authors present their data about spontaneous bone regeneration and variation of bone density after removing large mandibular cysts, using a computerized analysis of panoramic films. The results of this study show that, also in case of large mandibular cysts, spontaneous bone regeneration is sufficient to allow healing of residual cavities. Therefore, the use of autogenous bone grafts or alloplastic materials should be avoided, because of increased postoperative morbidity and complications.
