The oxo-diperoxo complex of molybdenum (VI), Mo(O)(O2)2(HMPA) a, (H2O) reacts with CIC6H4CH2NH2 to give the cis-dioxoperoxo complex Mo(O)2(O2)(ClC6H4CH 2NH2)2 b. The amorphous complex b has been fully characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, IR, Raman spectroscopy, conductivity, EPR and NMR measurements, and XPS analyses. The results lead to the conclusion that the compound b is an octahedral complex of molybdenum (VI) bearings two oxo-oxygens, a side-on peroxo ligand and two cis-amine ligands.
