study on the effects of simulated rain at two different pH (3.0, 5.6) has been carried out on naturally sub-acidic (pH 5.2) soil samples from a Landriano farm (Milan, Italy). Biological activities (urease and ATP), microbiological groups (aerobic heterotrophic, free-living N-fixing bacteria and Mycetes) and fungal microflora composition, have been monitored after 2, 4, and 6 months of treatment of the soil samples. The results showed that under these experimental conditions, acid treatment affects significantly fungal microflora composition, not ATP content and microbial counts. Urease activity increased with treatment at pH 5.6
