Glycerol 2,3-carbonate was resolved via Pseudomonas fluorescens lipase catalyzed acetylation of the racemate and subsequent alcoholysis of the optically enriched acetate product in the presence of the same enzyme. The two reactions, performed in CHCl3, gave (R)- and (S)-glycerol 2,3-carbonate respectively in high chemical and optical yields.

Abstract
