In this study is edited and commented the post-mortem inventory of the milanese palace of Tristano Sforza (1478) in San Fedele, Porta Nuova. Tristano (1429-1477), illegitime son of the duke of Milan Francesco Sforza, was an experienced captain and member of the ducal court. Clothes, furnitures and fitting, weapons and armours, tapestries, are here considered as signs of magnificence and power. The inventory is also referred to the circumstances of the quarrel between the widow, Beatrice d'Este, and the daughter and heir of Tristano.
