Abstract

An alternative methodol. is described for the detn. of transport parameters of electrolytes in nonaq. or aq.-org. solvents from concn. cells, which neither requires prior knowledge of electrolyte activity coeffs. nor of any other thermodn. function related to the latter. The reliability of this new procedure is tested against the older one, using solns. of KCl in (methanol + water) and LiCl in (1,4-dioxane + water) solvent mixts., and the conditions for its applicability to any aq.-org. or nonaq. electrolyte are described.
