The reliability of direct or indirect potentiometric procedures in quality control as well as in biomedical monitoring strictly depends on the availability of accurate data of such electrochem.-thermodn. quantity as the std. emf. Abstract
The reliability of direct or indirect potentiometric procedures in quality control as well as in biomedical monitoring strictly depends on the availability of accurate data of such electrochem.-thermodn. quantity as the std. emf. E0 of the hydrogen/silver chloride cell in the appropriate solvent media. This is esp. true of monitoring in ethylene glycol/water solvent mixts. at subzero temps., which are of increasing importance in the area of cryoconservation of tissues and related controls. The consistency of the available sparse measurements on the above cell, performed by different schools in the temp. range from -40 to +50°, has been analyzed in terms of the IUPAC-endorsed procedures and the set of recommended E0 values has been assessed. This will enable acid-base equil. to be investigated appropriately and acidity scales and pH stds. to be established in the above solvent media both at normal and subzero temps.Pubblicazioni consigliate
