Abstract

The original data of emf. of the cell H2|HCl|AgCl|Ag as measured by different schools at various HCl molalities in up to 50 wt.% EtOH/H2O, at normal and subzero temps. (263 to 313 K) were analyzed by a recently described, single-stage, multilinear regression method. The best values of std. emf. E° of the cell, which are key quantities for the acquisition of the ref. value stds. of pH in the above solvent mixts., were detd. together with the fundamental thermodn. functions ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° for the cell reaction.
