Dickens approached London like a therapist approaches a patient in search of what has been removed from his consciousness. Dickens liked to visit places where no one ever went or normal places at odd hours in order to find out what the city was not willing to show. In his writings about the city, especially in "night walks", he moves from place to place linking them through his mental associations.

Abstract
