Philip Grierson (1910 –2006) was the most important numismatist of his time. One hundred years from his birth, supported by friends and colleagues, Lucia Travaini put together in this book a number of texts to remember him: a short biography; the reprint of an almost unknown paper he wrote in 1938 as an example of the Irish sense of the absurd; the reprint of an interview published in 1978 in the journal of his College (Gonville and Caius); the Latin text (with English and Italian translations) which accompanied his Cambridge University honorary degree in 1993; the English translation of an article by Lucia Travaini dedicated to his scientific activity in the “Rivista di Storia Economica” 2006, and finally his complete bibliography from 1934 to 2006.
