This paper explores communications about cross-border mergers & acquisitions (M&As) by focusing on a specific deal and a specific industry. It first gives attention to Malaysian car maker Proton’s friendly acquisition of a majority shareholding in the Italian MV Agusta, one of the most famous motorcycle manufacturers in the world. More specifically, it examines features of different text types (e.g. press releases, media reports) to investigate the way aspects of the deal, the companies and their performance are represented. The paper then looks at communications concerning deals in the wine industry, focusing mainly on wineries in Australia and New Zealand involved in M&As and the way their corporate structure and history are represented in websites.

Abstract
This paper explores communications about cross-border mergers & acquisitions (M&As) by focusing on a specific deal and a specific industry. It first gives attention to Malaysian car maker Proton’s friendly acquisition of a majority shareholding in the Italian MV Agusta, one of the most famous motorcycle manufacturers in the world. More specifically, it examines features of different text types (e.g. press releases, media reports) to investigate the way aspects of the deal, the companies and their performance are represented. The paper then looks at communications concerning deals in the wine industry, focusing mainly on wineries in Australia and New Zealand involved in M&As and the way their corporate structure and history are represented in websites.Pubblicazioni consigliate
